Hi, I’m Jocilyn
I live in Richmond with my husband and son — whose birth was a large part of my decision to become a doula. My doula’s support allowed me to lean into my experience, even when things weren’t going to plan. She made space for my decisions and supported me when I was uncertain (and physically supported me through the most intense moments!). She gave me confidence while I labored to bring my son into the world.
I’m passionate about advocating for others — something I’ve done in my personal and professional background. I believe most things in life are better with someone to lean on (or to text and ask, “is this normal?!”). I think giving birth (no matter how you do it) is incredibly powerful and sacred. After giving birth myself, I knew I wanted to pursue birth work and integrate so many of my passions into being a doula.
Other than birth work and time with family, I love reading (and getting way too serious about my Goodreads goal), trying all the RVA restaurants with friends, and a good old fashioned.
